Word origins usually the study of etymology, etymogy means the meaning of word which does lot more than a language and how far the meaning is going to change over period of time by its usage.

Etymology tells.about relationship between variois words in language in which we could predict the meaning of unfamiliar words.

Examples

Humble which is derived from latin word humus means humility  certainly low or lowly....similar meanings as modest inferior lowly. Viz
